Re: JOB DONE: Pumping Gas? Can I use a gear type pump?
Id go to a junkyard, get an electric fuel pump from a vehicles tank (with strainer), hook up a hose, place it in a 5 gallon jug and wire the pump. Jump the pump from your truck with some type of semi permanent wiring (to prevent explosion) and pump it out; Simple :D Might be awhile but it's safe. Lo...

Re: wiring photocell switches on some lights, this is strang
If all the lights are in parallel and the switch (or photo eye) is in series with one leg (either neutral or 120V) then they should all close or turn on (or off) at the the time. If you have more than one switch running these lamps (3 way) Maybe you have it wired on the tracer wire or in series prio...

Re: Shop Safety
I too chucked up a piece of maybe 5MM rod, left it hanging out 30"s and held the end (I forget if I were polishing it or??) but that SOB whacked my hand 30X before I killed it. I thought I was on a much slower speed. WORSE THAN THAT I had a lifted truck I would jump, I broke all 4 body mounts t...

Re: Need recommendation for strong snap ring pliers
I have the 2 McMaster sizes and have used them for 10 years. Harbor Freight is fantastic for certain applications; But if it's out of stock, it can take a long time for the boat to roll in............ I use a sandblast cabinet, 24" monkey wrench, tire changer and a 3/4" ratchet with some m...

Re: phase converter?
I'm confused were you said " I flipped the breaker marked 3 phase and........"????????? Sounds like you HAVE 3 phase or I'm misunderstanding you....... Normally you'll merely have a 2 pole breaker attached to a "static converter" and a couple start capacitors give it this "f...

Re: What I need is a hone Ball type anyone got one?
I only used ball type hones in cylinders with intake and exhaust ports - 2 cycyle. Don't get me wrong, I like the ball type but I remember it taking me a couple tries to order the right size even after measuring the cylinder. I'd just grab a 3 stone large honing tool (adjustable) and go at it. Most ...

Re: three phase transformer question
The Delta wye had a 4th wire, a grey wire (sometimes called neutral, but not white) that had a return voltage, I forget if it were appx. 70 or 1toV AC.

Re: Parting blade, where and what to look for.....
Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. I wasn't sure if an AXA would fit this lathe as it's an oddball (or I call it as) size at 13"s. I'm just tired of using a Sawzall to cut 6061 tubing. I'm just making support rings, either about 3-4"s from that aluminum tubing. A parting blade...

Parting blade, where and what to look for.....
I hope I'm in the right forum, I wasn't sure to use the lathe forum as this is the only one I ever use. A member, (make that a very giving member) sent me a wedge type tool holder for my (seems to be a 13") 1920 SB lathe. Anyhow, it has helped me immensely..... But, I need a parting tool and ho...

Re: What did I "TAP" now??...............
Bob, Can I PM you my address and do it that way? I can also send you whatever you wish for your time and shipping. I can't thank you enough!!; The gas and tolls would far exceed just using a bubble envelope (or thick yellow type) and Priority mail would only take 2 days from you. If you have Paypal ...

Bob Bob, the bolt I got today was 1/2-13 (THANK YOU EBAY!!) Anyhow, I still need something threaded 1/2-24 to be loctited into in aluminum ...
