Re: Using G28
Mach3 works but seems buggy. I too have left Mach in favor of Centroid. Hardware and software from the same company who has been doing it for over 30 years. No comparison in my humble opinion

Re: Using G28
send me a direct email and let's get off the public board Gee whiz guys, maybe other inquiring minds would like to learn too. :( (Like me) Agreed. While the explanation benefits one person going off line, the subject may come up publicly again and have to be repeated. If its explained on line, it b...

Re: Centroid finally taking Acorn orders
Did you see the DB-9 connectors with TERMINAL block and HOOD I posted on the forum? No soldering
I HATE Solder cups, I used DB9's with Crimp terminals, crimp the pin on, push them in the hole.
The setscrew blocks make it even easier!

Re: Spindle Motor Control
I'm with Dickeybird, KB Electronics controllers work very well. I have them on two machines. Do keep in mind you have to buy a horsepower resistor that matches the HP of your motor for them. This tells the control to limit the current to the motor so it does not burn it out. KBIC-120 on ebay can had...

Centroid Acorn Lathe Software just released
Centroid just released the lathe software for their new Acorn Step and direction motion Controller with true spindle encoder input. Here is a link to a video showing it rigid tapping in a lathe, and then going back in again without damaging the threads, cutting a profile and then threading and rethr...

A couple of example machines running under Centroid CNC Acorn
This one is a Dyna Myte DM2400. It was originally running under Mach3 parallel port, driving a Gecko G540 4 axis stepper driver. It was almost plug and play: https://youtu.be/MvotXh04oZc MvotXh04oZc This one was a D&M4 picked up from one of our users on our For sale page. It was nearly complete,...

Re: Centroid finally taking Acorn orders
Indeed. I can say now that I was one of the Beta testers and have been working with it coming up on a year now. Please visit the Centroid Acorn page: http://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_diy/acorn_cnc_controller.html And the Centroid User Forums. I just posted a couple of videos and provided links th...

Re: CNC Knee Mill Control Conversion
It is NOT a typo. They are keeping the price low by having peer based support via their support forum. They have different levels of software, shown right on that page and what functions and it IS the same software used on their higher end controls. (Same software that runs their 5 axis machining ce...

Re: CNC Knee Mill Control Conversion
I'm in the same camp as Dave_C. I like to tinker with machines and controls. If the "iron" is as nice as you say it is, then it might be worthy of the upgrade if you are going to use it. If you have found something else, then pass it on, at a loss I know, but the real estate space it takes...
