Living Legend, mine was one of the first ten produced by RRSC. There has been a few changes from them over the years. The original pilot wheels where 1/4" bigger. I actually like the bigger wheels.
My plans do call out for the 1.75" bore.

Does anybody know a source for spoked pilot wheels that will work on a Little Engines Pacific?

A good paint stripper is called "Aircraft Remover". Brush it on and then let it sit for a little bit. While it is blistering take a wooden handled wire brush and give it a good scrubbing, this will help with the stubborn spots.

I am going to give you another option to do it. After blasting, go ahead and polish it. Lay the part facing up, take something so that you can drip the paint into the areas you want it to flow. If any paint gets on the raised lettering take some acetone and a paper towel and wipe the top of the lett...

They also make a cold Galv paint that you could spray on the inside of the jacket.

Harold, yes sanding the primer is a good idea. for one it creates a mechanical adhesion and open up the pores in the primer which the paint will adhere to.

PontiacGuy, what type of metal did you use and what type of prep work did you do to it?
