Dave, you make a very good point about having the pewter metal enter at the opposite end of the mold cavity, with the vent across from the entrance sprue. Spin Casting rubber molds
We have recently completed a spin caster http://www.granthams.com/Spincast/ and show the adventure so far. Have any of you folks worked with this? Re: Foam
We have had very good results using styrofoam beadboard insulation. It's easy to cut a shape with hot wire. A better finish is possible if dipped in wax. Take a look at this web folder http://www.granthams.com/Casting/ . We used sandblasting silica sand over the foam pattern.
