Re: SuperMax VS 2hp mill head rebuild parts
The head does not have a lot of hours on it. It was maybe 5 years old when I bought it but was sounding like it was ready to explode so a new head was put on the machine and I bought this one more for a might be fixable thing. Turned out it was a loose bolt letting the brake parts flop around inside...

SuperMax VS 2hp mill head rebuild parts
Anyone got a suggestion on parts that might work on rebuilding the variable speed drive on a 2hp Supermax head. The usual places say they don't have parts as YCI has quit supporting these non cnc models and BP parts do not interchange. I always figured it was so close a copy of a 2J variable speed b...

Re: Sizing air brake cylinders and levers
that is kind of like asking how fast is a red car. everything is a variable at this point. Are you putting cylinders on each truck or just one under the car and all the rigging to each truck. Cylinder size, expected pressure range, shoe material, etc. In full size a cars braking force is not adjusta...

The further away from your 50' radius circle of track you place your turnout the more distance you have to reduce the curvature into that turnout or better yet to have a segment of straight track before going into the turnout. By my quick sketch on the drafting board and looking at the angles a #4 w...

Re: Charlie Dockstader's Valve Gear on the Computer
Years ago I saved the Dockstader programs to multiple disks just to make sure I had them and were available in the future. They have come in useful several times.

Re: Blue prints SD
Kato has only made plastic HO and N scale models as far as I have ever known. It was not uncommon to use their power units for the Rail Power Products SD90 shells and was also the case for some of the brass models as the Kato power units were superior to even some of the high end brass models. Back ...

You won't get anything out of Progress Locomotive which now owns EMD, which is owned by Caterpillar. Its near impossible to get electrical drawings for engines made in the previous 15 years,, that was back in 2018 and Cat had instructed their dealers to destroy all printed material, service manuals,...

Re: Interesting story about a 2019 theft in the UK
The UK as well as many other countries have taken a who cares approach to theft, they look at it as a somewhat victimless crime. It is what the crazies want for us and it shows. I look at it this way it was my blood sweat and tears either making the money to buy and/or building something and its the...

Re: Paint question
primer is for topcoat adhesion and it does not seal out moisture. UV from sunlight is also detrimental to bare primer. If you like the color of the red oxide primer, paint a sample on a piece of metal and take it in and have it duplicated in your choice of quality paint. While somewhat expensive som...
