Re: Live Steam in Nashville

Now Jesse, Unless soemone was to come upon the Smurfy one as he steps out of his front door or the motel room, that picture is worthless for identification!! The only "real" way I could ID him all weekend was the barely legible "Soot Happens" pin on his hat! There was at least as...

Re: Mid South fall meet "05"

Yes I do. Although I am hesitant to give it out freely without knowing to whom I am giving it! If you register on this board, then you can send me a private message and we can exchange info.

Re: Mid South fall meet "05"

I second the motion. I met Papa Smurf and had some good train talk and actually got to see Jesse and the Filer and Stowell under steam. All in all it was a great trip and my boys and I wish to thank everyone who puts up with my questions and bumming rides (even in the dark!). I enjoy going to each m...

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet

Amen! My 93' Honda Civic (4dr) gets between 35/37mpg and has 221,000 miles on it. As we speak preparations are being made to put a hitch on it so I can pull my smallish trailer to visit some of our Live Steam friends in Columbia at the end of this month! I drive 37 miles to work and had considered a...

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet

We must also remember that the entire German country is smaller than Texas! We here rely on interstate energy resources of all kinds and expect that the Federal government and agencies will take care across the board. If this disaster had happened in Europe, almost an entire nation would have been w...

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet

Here in N. Ga. (Atlanta) area gas was as high as $6.25 /gal yesterday as someone (our Governor Sonny) made a statement that because of damage to the supply pipeline that runs through La. that the entire S.E. would see less gas available (i.e. a shortage) between now and when the lines are pumping at...

Re: Trains at Cass

Jesse, No. I generally get a new train shirt and then proceed to wear it till there ain't much left. Then I wear it around the house for work etc, but eventually it make it into a rag in the shop! Honestly though, right next to the shay's stack where you can feel the exhaust in your chest and the wa...

Re: Catastropic Calapiters or the truth - Now OT

Jesse, We will be there! I am not sure which child, but rain or shine, we Ride!!! I am trying to build a couple of gondolas before then so we have a little more room to spread out. Problem is Brakes. I don't want to add a lot of weight and not have an improved braking system. I have been looking alo...

Re: Catastropic Calapiters or the truth will out!!

I talked to poor Gene the other day about said sad experince with the Hudson. He has since removed liberal amounts of material from the rear and center (I think) journal boxes lateral as well as front and rear . He also opened up the side rods both ways as well to try for more "clucking". ...
