Hand Gun Barrel/Rifling Fixture Question From a New Guy..

Post by ken572 »

Hello Guys, :D
Has anyone ever made a fixture of sorts that can be mounted on a lathe
for making barrels and rifling etc.??
Thank You.

An old book, "Advanced Gunsmithing" by Vickery, and "Gunsmithing" by Clyde Baker would be helpful information---if you can find them! Good luck and best wishes!

Great!! After you read them, you will be surprised how our forebears made their barrels.

Those videos seem very interesting. I would love to hear from somebody who has the videos. I don't want to borrow or anything, just wondering what they thought of it. Even more important, did you build one?? Wow my wheels are turning now.

cut rifling sinebar machines have been made by quite a few home gunsmith and garagegunsmithing posteres

a simpler process is button rifleing( simpler in that it is all done in one pass) and uses hydrolics to pull the button thru the barrel.

a while back i posted a set of photos of a pre ww2 rifling machine from the government arsenel
