I now see flash arrestors available for oxy-acetylene. I don't remember them back when I bought my set-up.
I keep thinking that positive pressure and concentration of each gas in their respective line should stop
any flame from going back up the lines. I keep comparing them in my mind to the anti-backflow valves
that are on outside faucets. They are useful only in very limited conditions and have been dictated by
industry. Are flash arrestors really needed? I'm going to be setting up a new rig soon and would like to
know before I buy.

Of course, he is trying to sell the things so take that into account. I like your anti-siphon valve analogy. These look like yet another "If we can get OSHA to mandate these we'll be in the money!" device.
