Torches
I need to purchase a torch set. The special savings account is ok. Question I stopped in to a local welding shop and looked at an ESAB GT-250 for $305. Full set, minus the tanks, which I have to lease for 5 years. I will have farm and home shop use. My budget is no more than $380 max. Can you guys give me thumbs up or down or anther alternative or just wait until I have some more funds? Thanks in advance--Wayne

You should be able to beat that price, but getting torch set and cylinders under your budget may be hard.
Try looking on line: http://www.weldingdepot.com/?source=overture or
http://www.welding-direct.com/migwelders1.html

IMHO, Victor will be the best value, especially for replacement tip cost compared to the other brands.

Per your suggestion cope, I am looking at the Victor Fire power 250 series for $179.95 from welding direct.com. The only question I have iis will I be able to find parts locally or do I always need to order online? Thanks again for your input-Wayne

Wayne,

Victor tips are available at most if not all welding supply stores as well as online. Prices are better online usually, but as you probably noticed, they are cheaper for Victor than most any other brand.
