Tig welding copper?
I recently had someone ask me if this could be done. What's the best way?
Re: formed post caps
yes copper, preferrably deoxidized, can be tig welded. Requires about the same current as mild steels to weld. Brass, bronze, and even berrilium can be tig welded.
For the copper alloys in thin stuff you may have much better results with AC or reverse polarity.
I recently signed my name in a copper head gasket...... wonder if anyone will eer find it.......... the fumes are not good for you at all and be sure to use extreme caution when grinding berrilium.
I am soon to see if I can braze with the tig torch........ sure would be cleaner and I haven't heard anyone tell me it can't be done. I'm pretty sure that I can silicon bronze weld with the tig torch.

I see a lot of people that have really dumb signatures they add to their posts on many forums. Why?
