Berkroy Circle Shear

Post by Gene_Marino »

I got a small Berkroy Circle Shear but have no manual. The blades are straight, not the angle type. Does anybody know how to determine the gap setting or spacing between the blades as they cut? If to close the waste will contort and bend, but it will cut good, if space is to great it will depress the waste and not cut it off.

I haven't attempted to measure the gap between wheels but I would be surprised to find it more than 0.001 or 0.002". Most important is that the cutting wheels are lapped so as to provide a good sharp edge for cutting and you have the nurled wheel on the right shaft. That said, I will try finding my manual (only a single page sheet as I recall) and see what recomendation Berkroy makes.
Just because you don’t believe it - doesn’t mean it’s not so.
