Casting an air-cooled motorcycle cylinder

Post by Michael_Moore »

My racing and foundry pal Jeff has put up a long/detailed/photo-heavy thread at Alloy Avenue about making the patterns/molds and then casting a new cylinder for his Kawasaki 175cc two-stroke vintage road racer:

Since late December he put in 300 hours getting ready for last Sunday's pour when we got 4 cylinders that all look usable.

He's hosting the photos on his website and linking to them via the other forum, so they should be visible by people who aren't logged-in members at AA.

He's currently machining them to try and ship them off by the end of the week to have the bores coated with nikasil.

cheers,
Michael
