My lathe and mill

Hello! I live near Springfield, Missouri. Years ago I asked the, quite frankly, stupid question of building a locomotive without machine shop tools. I've grown since then, and last year I bought a lathe off Craigslist. A Barnes No. 13.

I've done some little practice pieces on it but nothing I'd like to share (atleast not yet).

And finally, it just arrived last week, I've bought an Armor Mill

I'm still debating with myself what scale/gauge to work with regarding train stuff, but while I still sort that out I've got some other projects in mind to do for practice.

After a few years of ownership, I still make a lot of direct recycle finished products. :)

Start small

Not taxing on smaller machines or wallet.

Big and unfinished is not necessarily better than small and running

Oh look! A vertical mill masquerading as a horizontal one. :D

It's actually a combination vertical and horizontal mill! I can swing the top half around to turn it into a horizontal mill. Albeit unfortunately the horizontal mill part of it needs work, its missing parts and the only thing still on it that's 3 phase. The vertical mill part and automatic feed work and have been converted to 120v. In the future I hope to work towards getting the horizontal mill part of it working again.

That's easily fixed with a VFD.
