Re: Pic of shop & some projects
Hi Steve,
Sounds like a neet set up. I don't know anybody who might need that stuff. I am a member of "Club Hot Rod" .......www.clubhotrod.com/forums/...! They have a "Parts for Sale" section that may be a help to you. I believe you would need to be a member but it cost nothing and you might like browsing the site.
Jack.

Re: Pic of shop & some projects
I'm pretty sure I still have some original '32 and '34 Ford front and rear cross members in the "archive". I sold what I thought was the last of the Hot Rod stuff about seven years ago, but a bit pops up now and then.
I'll have to dust off those brain cells and try to remember what's hidden in the corners.

Re: Pic of shop & some projects
Here are some more pics.
In one of my earlier posts I mention the Wilson Welding hubs I bought to adapt the Buick drums to the Ford spindle but didn't show a pic of them. Instead, I showed a pic of a spacer I made to adapt the Buick backing plate to the Ford spindle. I have now loaded a pic of the Wilson hubs. I also elected to show some wall art and the start of the gas tank cover repair.

Glen,
Forgot to answer one of your questions. I have owned it since 1966. This is a rebuild of my 1st build. This rebuild is taking longer than the original build.

Re: Pic of shop & some projects
Jack,
Finished cutting and mounting an adaptor that should have allowed the fallow rest mount but it moves the rest almost 2” greater away from the cutting head. Unfortunately this allowed for chatter when cutting, so I’m now going to move the scale to the back side. If I position it just right it will allow for access to the oiling points and the carriage locking bolt when moved from one side to the other.
Will post pictures latter tomorrow after I’m done with the fix.

Charles,
Thanks for the update. That was a good lesson learned on scale placement.

Re: Pic of shop & some projects
Jack,
I may have a solution that still lets me have the scale on the front. because if I put in behind the cross slide it would block access to the carrage lock and I've found I use the lock quite a bit. when I finish cutting a new spacer for the front I will post pictures if it works.
Because I just can't give up on a good idea...

Jack,
I love your shop building.
I want to expand my garden shed to be able to operate my woodworking machines in there (and keep the dust in thee rather than in the house), and was wondering if you had recorded the framing process in photos...
Thanks,
Nelson

Nelson,
I did take some photos as I was building the shop. They were before I went digital so I will dig through the piles to see what I can find, I know I skipped some or maybe even many stages. Will scan them and post themas soon as I find them.

Re: Pic of shop & some projects
JackF,
Well here is the adaptor that allows me to keep my glass scale on the front and still be able to attach the follow rest. I’ve made modifications to the follow rest to get a tight contact with the adaptor that then has a very close tolerance with the cross slide.
I may still fabricate my own followrest but this will work for now if I need to use it.

Charles,
Beautiful job. I will take a good luck at this to see if I can do the same. Is the adapter steel or alum.?
