Mill Power Knee Lift

Post by Russ Hanscom »

Here is the installation of a power feed to the knee of a Gorton Mill. This is a typical 150 inch lb power feed in an unconventional application. The offset location was used for a better fit, no excessive protrusion, plus it allowed the addition of a 3:1 reduction for higher torque and slower feeds.

I got tired of cranking the knee up and down by hand plus it now makes possible power feed for long bores. Yes, a chain/chip guard is provided but not shown.

Just don't get your apron, pants or parts of your body that stick out in the sprockets
There are no problems, only solutions.
