After recovering from the recent storm, work continues on the
knee of the pratt and whitney milling machine, here's the final coat
of citristrip taking off the three coats of paint:

Jim,

Does the P&W need filler to repaint (like Paula's drill press), or is the surface good to repaint as is?

Paula will be the first to tell you, I'm a rank amateur with paint. There
was a tiny bit of filler under the original cream colored paint, but my
theory is, it will get the same rustoleum black that the p&w lathe
got. Two coats will probably produce a decent finish.

The lathe had zinc chromate primer but that's outlawed in NY state
right now. I've heard folks say the rustoleum paint does not really
need primer of any kind if put on a good clean surface.
