Slow speed adapter for my Delta DP-220
I finally got around to making a slow speed adapter for my Delta DP-220. I found the pulley on eBay, and made the rest, here are some pictures. Next is a table lifting device, already have it designed =)

Slick! Slide the motor and adjust the tension, select the speed. I like it.

Highly efficient application of the KISS rule. I like it lots.

Way cool!
How is the eccentric (in the column) locked in position? (Or is it allowed to float?)

Harold, yes, it floats. I just need to grab the top of the idler and turn it to take up the slack, then pull the motor back.Harold_V wrote:Way cool!

Very nice. The D/P looks like a Walker Turner after Delta took them over. I have a bench model Walker Turner that some day I will find the time to put back together and use.

Re: Slow speed adapter for my Delta DP-220
Nothing like a speed changer, and an intermediate pulley is the way to go
Here are two of mine, and also showing a speedy way to change belts.
The first is on a Buffalo Drill Press (circa 1940)
Even though it has a DC drive, The belt shifts help immensely.
On this drill press, I can do 1 to 10,000 RPM, so tapping is a breeze at 20 rpm with back out at 200
Note the extra belt -that's in case I want to run the motor on the intermediate lower pulley
The second is on a Walker Turner DP
On the second Photo, you can see a lever on the eccentric bushing and there is a wing screw on the far side of the column to lock the bushing.
It only takes a barn hinge to make one

I know this is an older thread....
You did a great job on that speed adapter.
I made one for my atlas dp, maybe I should post it to the forums.

Thanks for the kind words, yes there is a Yahoo forum for Atlas-Craftsman machines at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/atl ... tsman/info
Nice videos that you posted on YouTube, and I agree, the old steel is almost always better than the new junk!

Thanks for looking at my videos. I am working on doing a series of videos on how I made my speed adapter that I hope to start posting on youtube soon. It will be more instructional than most of the vids I have now which are basically shorts.ksierens wrote:Thanks for the kind words, yes there is a Yahoo forum for Atlas-Craftsman machines at https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/atl ... tsman/info

Seeing your's makes me think I might take mine to one more level using the mill to pretty up my block. I'm almost embarrassed with mine after seeing yours.
