Lapping/honing and polishing service

Post by gwrdriver »

I need to have the bores of a small cylinder block lapped or honed and polished. Does anyone know of a good place to send it? The particulars are material: bronze/gunmetal, two bores 1/2"OD x 1" long. I'll furnish the block bored .0005" under. Straightness and roundness are well within the usual limits of lapping or honing but the bores want to be polished.

I trust you meant a bore ID, not an OD.

Why don't you use a split lap and do it yourself in your mill or drill press? No big deal.

Harry,
Charlie Southgate used to have a motorcycle machine shop on Gallatin Road at the railroad underpass in Inglewood. If he's still there, he would have the proper tools to do the job for you.

What in the bloody world are you two doing on this forum?????

I was told there were a couple of steam people "digressing" to other forums, but I never thought I'd catch you two at it.....

If you both go back right now (!!!!), and promise not to come here again, I won't tell anyone what you were caught doing.

The shame of it..... Two perfectly good steamies associating with the petrol sniffers........

G'Day Dampfwilli,

I'm glad you use the amulets. I find that they really come in handy when I visit the these "alternative" forums. You never know what bad thoughts you might start having otherwise..... <GRIN>

Like building a nice little V8 IC engine.........

I wish I had a high speed internet connection. Due to the poor state of technology in my local telephone exchange, I can only connect up at 28.8 Kb/s. Which as you can imagine, is VERY FRUSTRATING.

Have you noticed that we didn't get any bites (comments) from the normal inhabitants of this forum? They seem to be very timid..... <GRIN>

Perhaps they just realise the superiority of steam....... <BIG GRIN>

Cheers,

Phill.

Superior?
I read the steamy side of things all of the time! You folks have more characters than an old timer's checkers tournament.
Actually this is one of the least visited forums--I don't know why. Maybe it will change in the winter..

No I am from Oregon--one of the 3 Pacific Coast States. My entire name is German--my ancestors came from Germany. I have been to Germany (France also) and loved it. I would like to visit again but I fear that the lack of funds would make it difficult. I could not pack enough sandwiches to walk across the Atlantic much less pitch my tent.
