Centaur Engine

Post by pgp001 » Sun Jan 22, 2006 6:21 pm

Has anybody on here built the Centaur 60cc horizontal open crank engine.
It was a deign by E.T. Westbury which featured in the UK magazine "Model Engineer" in 1957.

I would be interested to hear any good or bad experiences with this engine before I start making it.

Phil,
Mostly finished one, still need to make some changes on the governor linkage. Do you have all the castings? I had to fab the carburator and governor. Don't recall any big problems. Not sure the cooling system on mine is going to be adequate.

That is some finish you have got on the engine parts, very impessive and it has given me a standard to aim for.
Well done.
