Disassembly of EMCO Compact 5 Milling Head

Post by EJKletsky »

The vertical travel of the spindle of the mill currently only moves about half way before it hits a hard stop. I think the internal spring in the quill is either jammed or broken and needs to be replaced.

Does anyone have a set of instructions, or at least some suggestions, for performing this disassembly task to get at the spring?

Thanks,

Earl

If I remember correctly on mine the pulley gets removed and I seem to recall there was snap ring holding the top bearing in place. Either way it's a simple assembly and should be obvious once you get into it. The screw/nut holding the pulley on was I think a left hand thread? It's been a real long time since I've been into mine so I wouldn't bet on my memory being 100% correct.
