4 jaw chuck on a HF 44142

Post by Happycamper »

Has anyone here installed a 4 jaw chuck on the 44142? Any suggestions would be helpful. HF doesn't stock the adapter plate and 4 jaw chuck for it anymore.

Emailed their customer sevice but they weren't very helpful. I asked if they had an adapter plate and 4 jaw chuck for their G9729 which is their three n one. They told they didn't have a D1 adapter plate for it.

Grizzly part # P9729277 is the adapter plate blank that you need to mount and machine in place for a 6” 4 jaw chuck. My 9729 3 in 1 came with it as a machine accessory in the parts box, in 2004.

I noticed that almost the entire site is like that but have noticed the view count is going up. I just joined last week. Why is the entire site like that? Still trying to figure out why the site has no activity. It has a lot of good information.

Do you mean the 3-in-1 section? Yeah, it's been pretty quiet of late. Other areas seem to have regular traffic though.

Speaking personally, I often find my questions are already answered with a quick search. So I do more lurking than posting now. I jump in if I see a question that I can answer. But most of my machining time is spent machining, not surfing. I have to squeeze that in between working time, grandkids time, vehicle maintenance time, groundskeeping time, mom jobs time, etc. etc. etc. ;-)

The 3 in 1 section is the only one of interest to me.

The other areas often are of interest to 3-in-1 owners. After all, if you own a 3-in-1, you own a lathe and you own a mill. So those areas may be useful too.

Granted, as a 40 year retired machinist, you may spend more time answering questions than asking them. ;-)
