WTB: 6" spoked wheels for 3" scale tender

Post by Glenn Brooks »

Seeking 6" or 7" wheels or patterns to build a 1/4 scale tender for coal fired locomotive, or a lead on a supplier. Tires need to be 1.25" to 1.5" width.

Thanks!

Glenn, did you ever find a source? I can help with custom patterns and a good foundry.

A little locomotive with 4 wheels on the track is a lot more fun
than a 1/2 finished one with 16 wheels on the bench!

Have you tried Martin Model out of Portland. Gary is apattern maker and may be able to help you.

Would you like a thick outer rim or thin? A 3D printed pattern with proper draft angles is essentially ready to print.

I can also give you a rough foundry-cost quote to help with your decision. You would own the pattern and the right to make and sell more.

Message me if interested.

Thank you.

Thanks all, with Charlie's help, have made up a pattern duplicating my existing pony truck wheels and now preparing to have them cast up for wheel sets for the tender and rolling stock.
