Hello All,

I am thinking about selling my 1.6" Scale USRA heavy mikado casting kit which I purchased from Railroad Warehouse approximately 10 years ago. In that time I have started doing some machining on it, but then wife and kids happened, now I see no light at the end of the tunnel with this project. I either need to buy something complete or darn close to complete if I want to be steaming any time soon. The nice thing about this kit is that parts are still readily available through two sources. Railroad Supply has all the components available as well as Godshall Custom Machining (who purchased everything from Railroad Warehouse). This casting kit is a mix of iron and brass castings. Everything I have machined so far has shown the castings to be high quality. I will try to give a rundown of what I have and what state it is in.

Frame Section. Have Frame, Crossties, spreaders, cradle, and bumper brackets. (all machined)
Spring Section. Have Equalizer fulcrums, spring saddles
Drive Wheel Section. Have all eight.(Started machining one) Have bar stock for axles. Completed machining the driving boxes and have bearings.
Cylinder Section. Have cylinder saddles, cylinder heads front and rear, valve heads front and rear, packing glands, and crossheads.
Pilot Section. Have pilot wheels, journal boxes, truck frame, springs, pedestal, swing bolster, heart links, pilot beam, boiler tube pilot, flag stand, coupler pocket. Most of this is machined.
Delta Trailing Truck Section. Have truck frame, pedestal binder, journal boxes, wheels, equalizer breams, rockers, rocker bases, bearings.
Motion Section. Have crosshead brackets, link supports, pillow blocks.
Locomotive Brake Section. Have brake cylinder, brake hangers, and brake shoes.
Drive Rod Section. Have main rods, side rods, intermediate rods.
Valve Gear Section. Have Eccentric rods, eccentric cranks, radius rods, combination levers, union links, lifting links.
Smoke box Section. Have smoke box front, smoke stack, headlight bracket, and hinges.
Boiler Accessories Section. Have steam dome, sand dome, safety valve shroud, firepan for oil fired engine.
Cab Section. Have dummy power reverse, firebox door kit.
Tender Truck Section. Have Andrews 70 ton truck side frames, wheels, truck bolster.
Tender Section. Have tank lid, front sill, end sill, tender steps, buffer.

I also have a bell kit and pyle classification light kit partially built.

I'm sure there is a little bit more that I forgot to add, but don't think I called out anything that isn't there. Please feel free to ask me any questions. I hope to take some pictures to upload this weekend. Just an FYI I started building this for 7.25" gauge. I don't think much would need to be changed to switch it to a 7.5" build at this point, except maybe the front axle I machined for the pilot wheels.

I am looking to get around $5,500.00 for the kit.

Thanks,
Jesse

Just a reminder its nice to know the location of items. Its probably safe to assume being you are building 7.25" that you are in the northeast, unless you have moved from there.

don't forget the pictures.
