Marker light lenses- availability and sizes?
Project for 2019 - going to add scale marker lamps to a steam locomotive and possibly make some on various scales. Right now, concentrating on PRR style four-legged markers. Are scale lenses available and from where? Looking for 1/8th scale, then perhaps larger.
Thanks!
Dick

Try calling Joe Ed as he might sell the lenses separately from his lamps. Previous post pasted below.

The best place to get them is from Franklin Automatic Machine Company in Brentwood, Tennessee, just south of Nashville. I have a pair of his locomotive marker lights, and they are superb! They use a single grain-of-wheat bulb, and have the four lenses in them, two green and two clear. You turn the lamp to show the ones you need. There is a detent for keeping them in place. You can specify brackets for mounting to the smokebox front or mounting on the sides of the smoke box.
The guy who builds them is Joe Ed Gaddes. His phone number is 615-371-0697.

You can also get GE push button indicator lenses through online sources such as Ebay or some of the electrical supply houses. You chuck them and part off the diameter you need. They are cut on the interior like a Fresnel lens.
Here is one source that has some colors for $2 each. These are surplus.

Here's another that has more colors. These are new for $3.70. Enter the part number below in the search box at the top of this page:

Re: Marker light lenses- availability and sizes?
Ok enough talk. Here they are once again.
I have had these lenses for over twenty years the mold was made by a dear friend Paul Culp an expert mold maker. I have sizes in 5/8, 3/4, 1, and 1 1/2 inch sizes.
They are true a Fernel lens and magnify as the originals do. I have four colors in all sizes Red, Yellow, Green, and clear. I also have a smooth one that in 1 1/2 that can be used on a semaphore signal. I have 4000 of every size in all colors. Do I want to sell them ? That is a good question. It seems that when I mentioned the prices,no one bites. I guess they think they are too expensive for a 1 cent piece of plastic (actually Lexan).
Well just for your information. I invested close to $10,000 to produce them and I still have most of them.
PS excuse any poor grammar or misspelled words I am typing this with one had as my left is swollen up like a balloon from gout and arthritis. have to work today on a pattern that needs to get done. Not complaining just explaining.
