Two RMI Steam Locomotives are on the market in the Los Angeles area:
#9 is an oil-fired "sweet creek" (2-6-0) with a steam-powered air compressor (keim) for train brakes, dynamo, hydraulic tender brakes, two super scale economy injectors, and additional details like prototypical cut levers. The engine was completed in 2006 by RMI in Fresno and operated for most of its career at the Southern California Live Steamers. The engine was purchased a few years ago and has only operated once since then. Maintenance has always been performed meticulously and the tight valve gear and excellent condition of the boiler attest to such care. The boiler has always been dried with air after being blow down with an empty tender to prevent rust.
#10 is a propane-fired "prarie" (2-6-2) built from an RMI kit. This engine has copper flues and a steam-powered water pump (keim) as well as a super scale economy injector. Fitted with prototypical Baldwin style builders plates and red spot plate. The tender has a ladder on the rear as additional detail. Very few operational hours.
Both locomotives are built to a scale of 3.75" to the scale foot and operate on 7.5" gauge track.
Asking price is $39,000 per locomotive.
