7.5" Southern Pacific SW-1 Slug **** NO LONGER AVAILABLE****

Post by tnoSW1 »

7.5" SP SW-1 Slug $8,000

Offered is a 1/8" scale 7.5" gauge scratch built locomotive. Locomotive has a 24 volt custom built electronics package with Robotec controller & sound using an HO scale Tsunami from “RideTrains”. Tethered hand held throttle can be used from either end. Locomotive can be made to run wireless (RC) for small fee.

The locomotive has two 24 volt motors per truck. The truck frames were cast by MDM and powered by an electric power assembly on 5" wheels by Tom Artsburger of the Hartford Shops.

The locomotive can be used independently, as a riding car or MU’d with another engine (ask about this option). The Slug can support brakes, but currently only has the 3D printed brake cylinders on the trucks. I will supply the brake rigging to support future brakes if buyer wants to add them later.

Comes with a 12-24 volt battery charger with Anderson plug connections to allow an easy & quick disconnect from either pair of deep cycle batteries onboard the locomotive. Many detail parts by PSC and 3D parts printed by myself. The Slug was finished in 2016 and only has aprox. 30 hours use. Has a slight bend in handrail on one side.

I'm looking for a set of those MDM AAR type A truck frames like these http://ibls.org/mediawiki/index.php?tit ... Type_A.jpg
or does anyone know where I could buy a set? Someday soon I'd like to build my own 1/8 scale ALCO S4 Locomotive and super detail it to the max in South Buffalo Railway livery in honor of my Father & Grandfather who both worked on the SBRR until they both retired. I lost my Dad in 2014 and I miss him dearly every day. He worked on the South Buffalo Railway and used to take me to work with him sometimes in the late 60's early 70's as a young boy & show me how to operate a couple ALCO S2's or S4's pulling a fully loaded long string of freight cars :-) Those were some of the most fondest days of my life. I would like to build a ALCO S4 in 1/8" scale in his honor someday soon. Thank you for your time & consideration, please don’t hesitate to email me with any questions you might have. jetenginethrust@gmail.com I just need a bare machined or unmachined set of AAR Type A trucks not the motors, sprockets, axles etc..
NOTE: I no longer need the AAR Trucks, as written below Nik3v had a pair.

JET,
I do not have an extra set, you might try Backyard Trains, Hartford Shops or Pike River.
