THE SELECTOR SWITCH
I am just about ready to release the selector switch.
I will be selling them for $90.00 postage paid to all US locations. Foreign shipping would be additional.
The switch will have five positions. Center off, markers, headlight and backup light positions. It will come to you prewired and will be semi gloss powder coat painted and read for installation. I will provide a wiring schematic as well.
In addition I will be making a headlight dimmer as well.
Speaking of headlights I will be re introducing the original Mercer Sunbeam head light.
Along those same line, I will be making all the necessary conduit fittings to pipe and wire your locomotive. I will offer wire in several colors also.
The Pyle National back up light masters should be here tomorrow and I will start the molds this week. Jay is working on the electronics for all the lighting.
Here is a picture of the first switch.

Re: THE SELECTOR SWITCH
is a locomotive headlight typically off while it's backing up?

Re: THE SELECTOR SWITCH
Rule 17 typically applies - supposed to be dimmed.

Re: THE SELECTOR SWITCH
Dimmed but not off.It may also vary by a particular railroads rules and or the era that you are talking about. Steam era and earlier diesels worked with marker lights and headlights. Today's power typically is not even built with marker lights.

Re: THE SELECTOR SWITCH
Larry....no "marker" lights? I can understand no classification lights, but how do you run light engines without a rear marker? Do you have to hang FRED on the rear end?elm53 wrote:Dimmed but not off. It may also vary by a particular railroads rules and or the era that you are talking about. For those who don't work on the railroad, the definition of a "Train" is one or more locomotives coupled, either with or without cars and displaying markers.

Re: THE SELECTOR SWITCH
Just received Mercer's headlight selector switch.
VERY nice. Excellent construction. I tested it with a flashlight bulb, works well.
Can't wait to install it and actually use it for it's intended function.
