Hi Jim,

Would it be possible to post a photo of the boring bar? I have quite a few questions a photo might answer. Thanks, Craig...

I worked at Storm Vulcan in 1978 till 1982
I was just 21 when i started, all the guys were really old there my boss had worked there 30 years.
It was a tough place to work for. they ran off all the new guys and all the young guys, but i lasted. lol
In 1980 i was in that tin roof factory working 12 hr. days (sun up to sun down) and it was a record heat wave summer!
well over 100 degrees everyday for months!
we wore long shirts and pants and steel toed booted. no A.C. it was like 130 in side the tin roof with all the machines running and grinding dust in the air.
i made head and tail milling machines.
crankshaft and camshaft grinding machines.
canshaft wielding machines,
engine block washers.
all the machinist were world war two (ww2) war machine makers and were all on there way out as i entered the buisness.
then CNC and PC came in in the 80's and no real machinest were being made anymore. now its a dead craft.

every one wants to either go to china, or slam a mastercam file into a cnc and have a low pay operator stand in front to load and unload.

SOrry to go crazy...yes i cut my Teeth at Storm Vulcan.. and now i have a CNC in my garage and use solidworks and mastercam.
and just joined this site today...
I can drive to storm vulcan still (its in dallas on Burbank st.) about a 30min. drive for me.
