Ottawa with twin flywheels.

Post by BilljustBill »

My German Grandfather bought a 3-1/2 hp Ottawa back in the 1920's. It has just one valve guide and working valve, the intake valve appears to be just springloaded and open on the intake stroke.

This one has a thin metal barrel/tank attached to the water jacket hopper, and has twin flywheels. No heavy rust and it can be rotated with the original handcrank.

My father stored it in an old Out House, but the oiler is missing. I found a glass oiler at a flea market, but I don't know how many drips do I set it for. Do you have a suggestion?

Light surface rust with hints of the green paint and decals. Any idea what it's worth?

Thanks,
Bill

Can you post a picture somewhere?
Does it have a magneto?

About your oiler,,,
Is it an engine oiler or a machine oiler.
When you look up the bottom pipe,,,,
Do you see a check ball?

I probably could tell you more if I could see a couple pictures.
It sounds like you have an Ottawa Farm Engine.
Their log saw engines only have one flywheel.
I have an Ottawa 4HP H&M log saw engine built around 1924 give or take a year.
I also have a 1911 Footed Base Ottawa 4HP H&M Farm Engine.
