I had a very productive and fun time today at the Finger Lakes Live Steamers track. Yes, it was a very good day to make steam clouds.

A special thanks goes to Ed M for inspecting, testing and certifying my boiler today. Also thank you for your words of encouragement and help.

A special thanks also goes to Ken C for teaching me how to operate this crazy locomotive! Thank you for sharing. Thanks for putting up with me. It was so much fun!! (I need much more practice)

Also thanks to the folks on this forum that have answered my many questions.

This is what clubs and forums are for!

Okay, Okay!! I'll see if I can get a photo or two attached to this.

In the first photo, I'm the guy in the center shoveling coal in. Ken, my fireman mentor, is on the left. In the second photo, Ed is on the left shoveling in coal.

No plate work, handrails, or name plates, at least not yet. Just pure miniature steam locomotive! Not bad for 23 months work.

I must say that almost all of the information and help I was passing to David was what I had learned from Joe Scales. As a steam engineer instructor, he is great. So for every question or event that David came up with, I was pulling from memory of what Joe had taught me. Granted Joe's locomotives are considerably bigger than a 1" 0-6-0, I found what he had said did apply. In fact many of the things he drilled into me are more critical in 1" scale as that size of firebox and boiler and much less forgiving than Joe's locos.

So while David was thanking me, I thank Joe for his time and experience for what I was able to pass along.
