I will cast a vote both for and against the grain trailer. We have one of these on our railroad. While the capacity and plug and playability (remove axles, put on blocks) is really good, the general aesthetics and hazards of loading are major detractors. The bin, even off its axles is full height form most small tractors to bucket load and lets just say some people should not attempt to operate heavy equipment. Aesthetically I don't really like it and would prefer something like Canton's tipple (earlier in post). In my humble opinion we are here to recreate a historical world in minature and using discarded agricultural equipment don't send that message.
On the positive, it was cheap and simple solution.
