Lake Shore Live Steamers
Does anyone here know if the Lake Shore Live Steamers in Ohio have any 4-3/4" gauge track? I live in Erie Pa and they are relatively close to me. Always looking for interesting places to run my steamer! -
Thanks,
David

Yes, this does help a bit, thank you. In fact, I think I found an "old" version of their website. The new one has a track layout map, but, does not show what part, if any, is 4-3/4" gauge. They also seem to have a presence on Facebook. So far, the answer to "do you have any 4-3/4" track" has been, "a little bit".NP317 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:13 pm https://www.lakeshorelivesteamers.com
Don't know if your answer is there.

So, I am waiting for a more definitive answer. Hopefully, someone here has been to their track and they will know.

I just found out that the 4-3/4" gauge track has been removed for the 7-1/2" expansion. Bummer! Cross that one off my list.

Hi John,
Thanks for checking out other places in my area. I am aware of the NEOLS club in Medina. I have not been there, but, I may check it out. I am also checking out the track down in Carrilon park in Dayton. They have some ground level multi-gauge track. They are actually farther than my own club track in New York! (FLLS). I have already made it to the Cinder Sniffers track, fun! I even got to help haul the folks at their public open house day in my 1" scale train!

David,
I think you’d like the NEOLS track, I’d say that 90% of the highline is in the shade, and it has just been upgraded with a new bridge...

That does look like a pretty cool bridge! My riding cars are really set up for ground running. How "high" is the high line? Is that dual gauge, 4-3/4" and 3-1/2" ? (Yes, I re-read your last post!) At any rate, I might have to check that out next year. Thanks, John!

David, The highline varies in height, probably from 24" to 36" all-in-all, not too "high". We have a few people use it, but it's never crowded..Builder01 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 9:55 pm That does look like a pretty cool bridge! My riding cars are really set up for ground running. Here's a pic of my F units on the track, you can see the steaming bays and turntable in the background..
I'd guess that the track is about 2 hrs from Erie..

Hi John,
Nice photo of your F units!
Looking at the website http://neols.net/trackplanandinfo.php , it looks like the small gauge track is a 1000" loop. It has full air. water and power at the steaming bays according to the web site. Do you know if there are any plans to extend the loop, or, to consider any ground level track?
Very nice, thank you,
David

Re: Lake Shore Live Steamers
David, as far as I know the highline is complete, with no plans for any expansion..
The same for any ground track...

Re: Lake Shore Live Steamers
John, do you know what the minimum radius is on the elevated track at NEOLS? I have a 1" 4-8-4 chassis that I'd like to track test and I'm curious to see how sharp a curve it will be able to negotiate.
