Sorry to bore you all, but my CDO kicked in. (The letters are in the order they should be in.)
The pics are large but needed to be.
Here is a 4" pillar file that has been abused and it was doing duty as a chisel.

Here is the same file after 36 hours in the white vinegar.

It now feels a lot sharper and looks better.

I recently sent a set of very expensive Swiss files to http://www.boggstool.com and they came back like new and half the price of a replacement set. I have some other files that are reaching past due so I think I will try the vinegar method and see how that works. Thanks for the information.
