Hey, I traded a inexpensive rifle for a 4500 dollar lathe, and we were both happy to have the pieces we got. Sometimes things just work out to one persons advantage. But I know this, the guy that sold them was an MD, and he had less interest in machine tools, than he would in the injuries the user gets from using them.
Personal, I'm glad I started with a very small lathe. It took a few finger tails, but it never took a finger. I learned that lesson. Take care of your hands, there the only ones you'll ever get.
