Don't feel bad. It's not the end of the world.

I have been dealing with MSC over 25 years. Not always the cheapest, but overall very happy with the pricing. One time they shorted me a $5 fitting, called and told them, they said they would fly it one day ship from NV, told them there was no rush regular delivery is fine. But the next day a Saturday it arrived here in NJ.

You can call a dicker with them on prices as well. I am just a hobbyist buyer 2-3K a year.

I have been dealing with Manhattan Supply Company since the early 60's, when they were only located in NY,NY, and had a rather small catalog.

As MSC, several years ago they created a presence in my state, and started charging me sales tax; that's when I switched to NY based Travers Tool.

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled for sales taxes everywhere, I will again buy from MSC.

Sigh:
Don't buy enough there to get the good prices. It's all a matter of what the traffic will bare. If you can sell stuff for 5X and 8X your cost you'll likely be very profitable at the end of the year as long as you don't price your self out of business.
For myself in business and personal needs I tend to end up buying elsewhere. Don't always get the very best stuff but then I have to plan on people misusing and losing stuff too.

MSC not only killed off Enco they also killed off J&L, one of my favorite vendors. Recently they acquired Deco Tool. I wonder if Deco will survive under that name or if they will disappear into the MSC giant.

Because of the small volume of my purchases and MSC's prices they are absolutely my last resort when buying tools.

Just got the latest MSC flyer, and after comparing similar items in the TTC flyer, the MSC took a flyer into the round file. MSC prices were about double TTC prices. The quality may be slightly different, but I am not a for profit production house, so it is not an issue.
