Yes, 2 1/2" AND 925 RPM. I tried reducing surface speed from 325 to 230 then to 160 to no avail. In fact the chatter got worse. I was feeding manually, I didn't have the guts to try a faster feed rate or power feed at a faster feed rate. I don't know if my Grizzly 14x40, (0554) is stout enough for that cut with a 1/2" form tool. When near the end of the cut and I tried 1280 RPM there was no chatter but the heat generated from that speed got the "chips" to smolder quite fast and I had to drop back down to 925. In suspect the mass of the cutter, 1 1/8" square Moe Max, may have made the difference, it never got too hot.

By 1/2" I mean 1/2" radius form tool, 1" diameter.

Jack.
