Compressor Oil Leak

Post by SteveHGraham »

Today I put one of my hose reels on the wall, which means I can now use my small hot dog compressor instead of standing on coils of unused hose.

I am thinking of getting rid of this thing. It works fine, but it leaks oil. It has had other problems. The internal output hose (the one that goes from the compressor to the output fittings) blew out, and I had to machine a new fitting and replace the hose.

Before I dig into the compressor to find out why oil is coming out of it, I thought I should come here and ask if anyone knows what I should look at first. I assume there are typical oil-leak problems which are familiar to people who use these things.

Make sure the crankcase vent is open.
