crossbow build
crossbow build
Here's a crossbow I've just finished. At the moment it is slack stringed due to being very difficult to cock. I'll make a cross bow string to make it easier, the string will be under tension unlocked then and very much more powerful. Not sure of the range as I haven't fletched the bolt yet but, it seems quite powerful. Trigger mechanism is allow as are most of the parts except for stirrup, skeleton shoulder stock and wooden stock. No idea what I'll do with it, it's just one of those things I wanted to make.

Cool! That's something I've always thought would be a cool project. Like you, I don't know what I'd do with it but I'd have fun making it.
Re: crossbow build
painted and polished it today, came out good. Next project I've got in mind is a rifle slingshot. Like the crossbow, totally useless, but?

Re: crossbow build
From what material is the bow itself made?
Too many things going on to bother listing them.

If you don't already know of this channel? https://www.youtube.com/user/todsstuff1 He does extensive research and there's quite a bit of cross bow information with a bit of digging through his past videos. Some interesting information as well about what these types of weapons were and were not capable of against the types of armor worn during that period.
Re: crossbow build
skeleton shoulder stock and stirrup from 25x3mm steel, rest is polished aluminium except for the stock proper which is two pieces of sandwitched pine and the fibreglass limb.
