AW same as ISO?

Post by seal killer »

All--

My lathe has been stored for over four years. Now that I have it and the rest of the equipment up in the new shop, I decided to change the oil in the lathe. The manufacturer recommends ISO 32 for the spindle. I have some, but probably not quite enough. I also have some AW 32. (I don't remember why.)

From what I've read, they appear the same. Are they? Should I use both in the spindle oil change?

Thanks!

Looks essentially the same to me, additives could be different.
Basically, it's mineral base hydraulic oil. I'm sure there will be no trouble from mixing them.
Are you having fun yet? making any chips?

AW-32 is ISO 32 with Anti Wear additives. Same thing, just better.
