Ahhh....pretty clever there Jose! I didn't realize you had made a new spindle you drive with the Dremel. I've always had a little difficulty understanding how a Dremel would be accurate enough to drive small drills without them wandering and wobbling. I imagine surface finish of the part has a large influence on small drills wanting to start in the correct location. A very low Ra would be quite helpful.

I guess holding micro drills accurately would be half the battle too.

From the pic's it looks fairly straight forward the mounting to the drill.

Actually the small drills will find center and drill fine with the wobble.
Adding the spindle has reduced the power of the Dremel about 30%.
It lost 10K RPM by just the drag on the dual bearings and the mass of the Albrecht 0-.062 chuck.

The X-Y table I found on eBay and I got lucky to get it for nearly nothing.
It must have been part of a micro film camera or similar in order to have those nice large micrometers for each axis. Made of brass completely except for the bearing balls, ball spacers and fasteners.

I still have to use it for something I need. I wanted to have it finished so I can work on the 1/16 scale black powder cannons, but making Hummingbirds is taking all of my free time (plus chaski)

Those little tables are picking up a good reputation.
Here is a comment a got from this gentleman in Canada.

So these words are good news to me. It will bring revenue to keep my hands off the retirement house moneys. My wife has been very patient and supporting so far.

If you clean out the bearings and use a light weight white grease such a Lubriplate No. 105, you may get some speed back.

The bearings are sealed ball bearings.

The speed is still enough, I can get 20,000 RPMs as it is.

Using a Proxon grinder during the WEME here in Vallejo, loaned by LittleMachineShop there was no power loss. Those grinder must have double or triple the power than Dremel's.

Yes, remove the seal from one side and wash out the existing grease as it is fairly heavy and causes quite a bit of drag. You may be able to replace the seal if you sre careful. What are they something like an R?ZZ bearing?

Bearings for Roller Blade skate wheels are available in ABEC 7 at just about any soprting goos store. Very nice small bearigs.
