Basic set up question

Post by Fullautomike »

I have what is most likely a basic question to most of you guys. How can I hold this down so I can mill this block of aluminum? I want to face off the top. I'm not making a precision part, just a loading block for a wildcat cartradge. I just want to make it look nice. After I face it off I will be drilling a grid of aprox .320" holes to hold the cartridges while I load them.
Thanks Guys. FYI My vice is too small.

Mike,

I would try 2-sided carpet tape and a pair of toe clamps first, that tape really will surprise you.

Operating machines is perfectly safe......until you forget how dangerous it really is!

All--

I have some of those T-slot clamps (Glenn's second link). They're great.

Here are the ones I have . . .

I can't remember where I bought mine. I DO remember that I paid more than what they show at the link, above.

Bill, Thanks for the link. Now these are $40 each or for a pair?? Wishful thinking, I'm sure they are $40 each, what do you think?

looks to me like they are in sets of 2. My table uses .750 t slot nuts, so I think I'll get 2 sets of the T-slot Mitee Bite toe clamps.
I knew you guys would have the answer :D I'll order them tomorrow night, just incase someone has a better way. The more I think about the clamps, the more I think I need them!

Seal Killer- Which screw is the eccentric? Not 100% on how those work but I am very interested in them.

Grizzly--

The eccentric screw is in the gold-colored clamp. The other screw is for the T-nut.
