a friend just gave me a somewhat neglected Unimat SL 1000. i found a good YouTube series and got most of it disassembled, cleaned up a bit and it seems to be in good condition. both longitudinal and cross feeds are operating very smoothly. looks like it used to have a power feed. he said there still might be another box with parts so i'm hoping things like that are still in good shape. there is also evidence that there should be the milling post and motor mount since the bigger mill table in also there. i have yet to disassemble the headstock, however, due to the 3 jaw chuck that seems frozen on the spindle. don't have a set of tommy bars, so i'm hoping when i get some oil on it and with a bigger stronger lever action going, it might break the frozen threads.

Re: Unimat SL1000
soak it in atf and penetrating oil -> then warm it a bit with a hair dryer or industrial heater. avoid a torch as you can damage the seals on the spindle bearings if you get it too hot.
you can take the entire head off, point it chuck down and dunk it in a large coffee can or plastic bucket full of the stuff...

Too many things going on to bother listing them.

I have mixed ATF with some acetone. It penetrates quite well.

Be sure to use the ATF for older vehicles like Ford Type F. The first ATF I bought was the current synthetic style and it wouldn’t mix with acetone. It was like oil and water. The older style went into solution easily.
