HARDINGE KL-1

Post by ARM »

Does anyone have some info on this Model ????
We know that it was manufactured in the UK, under License ???
It seems an exact copy of the HLV-H ???
We are wanting MANUALS on this specific machine. Any hints where we may be successful would be immensely appreciated.
any other info would be most welcome.
Thanks in anticipation

I saw one claim from someone in the UK that stated that he owned a British HLV-H and the serial number started with KL-1, so possibly they are the same as a HLV series.

I saw some pics of KL-1s, and they sure look similar to HLVs.

Here are two links to Hardinge manuals which contain HLV manuals. The second link offers .pdf downloads of the manuals, but I am not sure about the first.

Hi
This is indeed a British made version of the HLV-H. The tag reads EXETER, DEVON, ENGLAND and it does look like an HLV-H as well.
And U are correct the Serial number does commence with the prefix KL.
We don't know if the parts would be inter changeable ???
Although the Machine looks like it has not seen much use would U recommend we change the Belts ???
And what size Toolholder would U recommend we get for small turnings 3/8" 10 mm or 5/16" ??? We like the Inserts.
Thanks a stack

Tony Griffiths in England might be able to help. Here's his "Hardinge" page:

No SIR !!!
This time round even he has been stumped.
We have already contacted him and he "thinks" it is a copy of the HLV-H
He even asked for some pics which we have sent.
Methinks we should bounce this off some UK Forums ???
There ought to be somebody who knows or uses these Models there !!!
Any further suggestions ???
Thanks for the try.

Sorry for the late response, I must have missed this.

You may have to check with Hardinge on parts interchangeability. http://www.hardingeus.com/index.asp?pageId=96

If you have any surface finish issues, a belt change may help.

I'm not sure what you are asking as far as tool holders. Are you referring to tool post sizes such as Aloris AXA or BXA sizes, or the actual tool holders for the inserts?
