Hello,

Thank you for your replies.
I have seen a lot of Youtube videos for dovetail mill conversion to CNC. Most of them are on Sieg type mini mills.
Main reason I am looking for the ZX7016 is cost, as you all understand. It is 1/4 of the price of a Sieg mini mill.

Well.. I ordered a ZX7016 yesterday and I will send you my thoughts when I will get it on my hands.

Hello,

I recently finished the ZX7016 CNC conversion.
I managed to put ballscrews on X and Y axis and a belt-motor-pulley system on Z.
Using an gas piston I also managed to remvoe any backlash from the Z Axis.

The main problem I have now is that the Spindle has low RPM. It runs @ 2870 RPM

Do you think that by changing the motor to a three phase I can raise the RPM ?
Do you think that by raising RPM I will mill aluminum better?

Thank you

Good to hear of your progress.
Higher RPM: I would be concerned about the spindle bearings, and their RPM ratings. Need to check that out.
Yes, Aluminum machines well with high RPM cutters.
Otherwise, just be patient.

Thank you for the reply.
I am thinking that is better to use a DC motor with a speed controller rather than a three phase one...

I just found that on aliexpress
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/DC36V-2 ... 05243.html

it works with 220V so it will not be defficult for me to drive it as in Greece we have 220V

Congrats! You made it work for your needs. Noticed you went with ball screws.
I too just jumped into the CNC milling world, with a Taig.
