Rockwell Mill: Where to find?

Post by royldean »

I would very much like to get one of the small Delta/Rockwell R8 vertical mills. Does anybody know of a yahoo group, etc. where they are discussed? They come up so infrequently on craigslist that I'd like to increase my chances of finding one. Thanks.

Yes, there is a Yahoo group for those mills.
Good luck with your hunt.
Search for Rockwell mill Group on Yahoo.

Where are you?

Maybe someone knows where one is, but doesn't know if it's near you.

Here's a horizontal in Virginia:

Add a Bridgeport head and you have both directions.

I have one I may be selling. Just bought a new Webb. This Rockwell is in excellent shape.

I'll update my profile to show location. Unfortunately, I'm in South East Pennsylvania....

Roy,

I think you need to spend alittle more search time
on your Puuter.. :P

They are all over the place.

From what I read, they are not selling because they
are all overpriced.

You have many to choose from and negotiate on.

Here is some places to get you started.

No matter what the mill, you can always find overpriced ones.... Those are the easy ones to find. The decently priced Rockwells go quickly as there are few solid 3/4 size models around.

Looking around, there was one in Philidelphia for $1150 and another in Jersey for $1000, but both look to be gone now. I picked my 21-100 up for $1200 a few years ago. They come up on Craigslist from time to time.

Hey, Richmond is only 4-1/2 hours away. :-)

I drove 3 hours to pick up my mill/

This response is of little use to me, see my responses in red below.

Never seen this site before, but the quality of the ads is terrible (units already sold, no location, etc.)

So? I've read this website many times. How is it supposed to help me?

Ken. :)
And by the way, they may be "all over the place", but they're definately not all for sale. Every time one has come up for sale within 100 miles of me (at good prices, ie, sub $2000, they are sold within hours). I would consider paying $3k for one if it were delivered (and I've already had one offer for that)....
