1903 Wooden Pullman Heavyweight

I was asked for pictures after i asked a question so here they are. I am building 1903 wooden pullman heavyweight passenger cars in 1 inch scale. three of them a baggage , coach and diner. i live on ss and can not afford to pay for metal trucks and do not have the tools to build them. I plan to finish these three and sell them to purchase a larger lathe. the one i have only turns 3 inch max. hope you enjoy.
the house picture is what i have been building before starting into the trains. this is 1 inch scale also. ron

Nice work!

If you are concerned about the strength of the side frames truck side frames you could do what the car builders did when they were making the transition from wooden to metal frames, sandwich the wood between pieces of sheet metal. I think I decided that 16 gauge was about right for 1-1/2" scale.

thank you people, I am proud of my little houses. to see a lot more of the house's get on facebook and type rons dollhouse's. there you will see the whole build. they are stick built, floor joist, plates, sub floor, hardwood finish floor, 2x4 walls, lath and plaster, rafters, roof boards and cedar shingles. the dark green one took me 2 years and 3 months to build. the gray one 1 1/2 years. these are beyond museum quality. I guess you can tell i like to build. ron

About the only thing you didn't scale down is the wood grain! Amazing work.

steve. the ends of the roof is a solid block of wood. first i planed to close shape by eye then hand sand to final shape. takes me one day to do one end.
