Re: Project: N&W class J on 5"gauge
Good Morning,
yesterday it was possible to use the CNC Mill, so i milled the Drive Rod. After 45min the Rod was ready, some deburring work later, we mounted the Rod.
Everthing runs smoothly and free, in the next Days i will show some pictures with all mounted rods....see ya!
fresh milled Rod
All the very best

Mayby the US Equivalent to 1.4571 is 316Ti not 316L.Steamchris wrote: ↑Wed Mar 28, 2018 6:28 am Hi Harold,

Thanks. The chief reason I asked was because the color in the photo looked a great deal like aluminum, and I suspected that wasn't your choice.
While subtle, materials tend to have their own colors. Aluminum tends to be more white than 300 stainless alloys, which have a general yellow cast. I didn't see it, but figured it was more to do with the camera and conditions than your choice being aluminum.
I've followed your build with considerable interest, as I enjoy fine detail. Thanks for sharing.

Hi all,
today, we mounted all the Rods on left side of the runing gear.
here you see the eccentric crank with a helping device to find the right circule Center.
view of the doubel Rods...
the hole Thing...ball bearings all pur
you see me happy about running properties

Hi Guys,
Time to Show some progress in our J.
During our Honeymoons visit in the USA, it was able to see the prototype in Spencer NC. Pushed from all those impressions the Work on the Model going forward.
So the first Movement on Air was possible.
https://youtu.be/HVRC33YSCGM
only one Cylinder is working, the second Mainrod is still under construction...
All the best
Chris
