Chris, where in Germany are you? I frequently go to Leipzig for work as I do flying for DHL, would love to see your work up close. Also, I know you’ve mentioned it before, the way you mount the drivers to the axles, what’s that called?

Hi Guys,

some news on our J,we finished the slide ways and were able to put it on the Cylinder, everthing fits well.
The crosshead is just a Dummy to show the dimensions of the parts...dont forget its just 5"Gauge.
I cant wait to be in front of the prototyp. Just 68 Days...

Hello Guys,


time to post some progress on #611.
The last post showed the Slideways with the Dummy Crosshead made of Aluminium.
During the last Days the right Crossheads grown more and more. The Body is made of SS Steel the Shoes are made of Bronze.
47 Days to go,then we will enter your beautiful country for the first time.

Hello Steamchris,
Some important progress with your J, congratulation! The day of it's initial first run on air is in sight now, isn't it.
For better understanding the construction of that Timken crosshead for both the A and the J, there are some more photos.
Maybe some other modelers are interested in that careful and proven construction of that Timken crosshead with (clamped) ball bearings?
Both easy to mount and disassamble without any backlash. Grease my be pressed between the bearings by means of a small chanal once a year.

Hey Asteamhead and others,

WD,thank you for your words and for the extansion on my Report.

Today it was able to use the Press during my Breakfast-break. So the Bolts are right now on the right position.
I started first with the Crankpin....i think the pictures will tell more.....
