8-1/2" Gauge Mogul

Post by JR May »

You do find odd things on Craigslist. In this case we had a 8-1/2” gauge mogul show up as being for sale in southern New Jersey over the past couple of weeks. It had been for sale back in the 2008 time frame and I looked at it at that time. Seemed at that time and even today, to be an odd gauge and built by an unknown builder. Perhaps the photos will trigger some one’s memory.

I came close to buying it this week, but was a day or so too late with my visit to have a look. Had planned to move it tomorrow, but probably just as well. It would be a distraction from my bigger 15” gauge project. It did run on air and had been steamed up as is a few times apparently.

Lesson learned – don’t drag one’s feet.

Perhaps the new owner is on Chaski. Would be good to see some updates on this little engine.
