Building a pilot for 2 ft. gauge Forney locomotive

Post by Springhill-RR »

I need direction for building a pilot for our Forney 2 ft. gauge locomotive.
What materials are best?
What is the angle for the slats?
How far off track should it be?

Cool project.

it possible to post a pic of the front end? What ever exists now? Probably would give the membership context to respond to your question about the pilot. So much of the hobby can be freelance design, so you have a lot of freedom to do what e we suits your needs. I e see. Is catchers made up withsmallish diameter pipe, ends pounded flat to weld to the frAme, flat bar stood on edge, and even wood. So quite a bit of variability . My guess is height off the track is at least a couple of inches. Mid way of coupler height, 🤔
